Noteworthy
Maine Granite
Hundreds of millions of years ago the collision of the earths plates created molten magma that cooled with the earths crust to form granite.  Erosion exposed the granite and the undertaking of quarrying started.  In the early 1800’s the state of Maine started its quarrying of this stone; all done by hand.  This early granite has a distinctive appearance.  Finding this antique stone was Jerry’s quest and recently was happy to find a supplier in Maine.  After a long drive to Maine the fun began when he was able to choose the pieces of granite that ‘spoke’ to him.  A few weeks later when the stone arrived at JFGD it felt almost like Christmas; seeing them unloaded from the truck.  This wonderful granite will find new homes in Pennsylvania for the next hundred years and more.

Stone Foundation
Jerry’s favorite Christmas present was from his wife Amy, a membership to ‘The Stone Foundation’.  This is a society of stonemasons and others involved with and or interested in stone, stonework and stone art.  Stone has always been an interest of Jerry’s and he is looking forward to increasing his knowledge in the near future.
